The sixteen game pieces, all different, each have four distinct characteristics: high or low, round or square, light or dark, solid or hollow. Each in turn chooses a piece and gives the adversary, who must play on an empty space. The winner is the one who received a piece, creates a line of 4 pieces with at least one common characteristic and announces: "QUARTO!".
